Việt Nam sạch lưới trước UAE và Jordan, nhưng hàng phòng ngự vẫn là cơn đau đầu với HLV Park Hang-seo ở giải U23 Châu Á năm nay.

Trong cả hai trận đầu vòng bảng, điều chỉnh đầu tiên của HLV Park Hang-seo luôn là với một cầu thủ ở hàng phòng ngự. Trước UAE, ông thay Huỳnh Tấn Sinh ở phút 54. Ở trận gặp Jordan, thay đổi đến còn sớm hơn, khi Đỗ Thanh Thịnh rời sân từ phút 36. Nhưng chọn được thời điểm rời vị trí và gây sức ép với cầu thủ đối phương là việc không hề dễ dàng. Nó đòi hỏi các cầu thủ phải có khả năng đọc diễn biến tốt, luôn trong một tâm thế sẵn sàng, và có đủ sức mạnh thể chất để có thể gây sức ép với cầu thủ đối phương một cách hiệu quả. Trên đây là một tình huống điển hình cho sự thiếu hiệu quả của hệ thống phòng ngự của Việt Nam. Khi wingback trái của Jordan – đội cũng đá với sơ đồ ba trung vệ trận này – có bóng, Tấn Tài lưỡng lự không áp sát, trong khi cả ba tiền vệ của chúng ta đều đã ở trung lộ. Cầu thủ có bóng của Jordan do đó có đủ thời gian quan sát, trong khi ở phía trên các đồng đội của anh ta cũng có đủ thời gian để di chuyển. Đây là vấn đề mà chúng ta ít khi gặp phải với những bộ tam vệ đã quen mặt, là Duy Mạnh, Đình Trọng, Tiến Dũng ở giải U23 châu Á 2018, hay là Duy Mạnh, Ngọc Hải, Tiến Dũng (Đình Trọng) trong màu áo ĐTQG. Những cầu thủ này đều hiểu rất rõ nhiệm vụ, cũng như vai trò của họ trong lối chơi chung, nên có nhiều tình huống sẵn sàng lên tới quá vạch giữa sân để phòng ngự. Chính Đình Trọng trong trận đấu với Jordan hôm 13/1 cũng đã không ít lần làm được điều đó, mà tình huống dưới đây, diễn ra ngay sau khi anh vào sân, là điển hình.

Ở tình huống này, cầu thủ của Hà Nội đã sang tận phần sân của Jordan để tranh cướp bóng với tiền đạo của đối phương. Và rõ ràng, khi cả hai đội đều chỉ có 11 người như nhau, thì việc Việt Nam tập trung đông quân số ở gần khung thành của đội cũng có nghĩa là đội bị thiếu hụt quân số ở gần khung thành của đối thủ.

Việc các trung vệ không dám triển khai bóng còn dẫn tới một hệ lụy nữa là các đồng đội ở những tuyến khác không có đất để chơi.
